Head of Programmes
Fran joined ITP in January 2012 as Head of Programmes. She brings with her over 20 years experience in the tourism industry, having started her career leading adventure tours for the tour operator, Explore, in locations as diverse as China, Ethiopia and Oman. Subsequently Fran worked in sales and marketing roles at a China specialist tour operator before returning to Explore as Area Manager for the Middle East region in 2001. She went on to establish Explore’s private groups business whilst simultaneously developing the company’s responsible tourism policy, strategy and activities; leading the company to win several national awards for responsible tourism and sustainable business practice. She was also an active member of a variety of tourism industry committees which brought together different stakeholders to address sustainability challenges.
In 2009, Fran left Explore to pursue a Masters in Environmental Strategy at the University of Surrey. In this time she also worked for the sustainable tourism charity, The Travel Foundation, where she managed the organisation’s Egypt and Gambia programmes and developed environmental auditing systems for hotels and Nile cruise boats. She has also undertaken a variety of consultancy work.
Passionate about the global sustainability agenda, Fran brings to ITP the firm belief that business can be sustainable as well as profitable.
