The International Tourism Partnership is supported by some of the world’s leading travel and tourism companies. The core structure of the International Tourism Partnership consists of its member companies and a small staff based at the IBLF headquarters in London. The governance of the International Tourism Partnership is modeled on principles of full participation of members, accountability, responsiveness, transparency and flexibility.
The Governing Council comprises the founding members of the International Tourism Partnership and provides the overall guidance and strategic direction for the partnership. The Governing Council has the capacity to impact and influence responsible business behavior at an international level and is represented at a CEO level. The group acts as a ratification body for the strategic direction of the Internetional Tourism Partnership. The Governing Council meets annually and the Chairman is drawn from the members of the Council. Additional members may be invited to join the Governing Council at the discretion of the founding members.
The Executive Committee works directly with the International Tourism Partnership Team to promote and contribute to programmes and initiatives of the International Tourism Partnership. The Executive Committee functions on an operational level, implementing projects within their own business operations and participating in relevant forums associated with the International Tourism Partnership. This group has its own chairman and provides input into the Governing Council. The Executive Committee meets annually and at other times as required.
The International Tourism Partnership staff assists members in their corporate citizenship and sustainable tourism activities, enabling them to engage in projects with other companies through a non-competitive platform. They develop practical tools and programmes that foster and implement new ideas to address emerging global issues and host relevant forums for the partnership. The International Tourism Partnership staff monitors and evaluates the activities of the Partnership and is responsible for communication with the Executive Committee and Governing Council. It is led by an Executive Director who is responsible to the IBLF CEO.
Partners are international public and private sector bodies that further the reach, scope and expertise of the International Tourism Partnership.
