IHG were founding members of the International Tourism Partnership. Being one of the world’s leading hotel companies comes with its responsibilities and I congratulate IHG for the progress made across its corporate responsibility programmes. It’s impressive to see the speed with which the IHG Green Engage™ system is being rolled out across the entire estate.

Stephen Farrant, Director, International Tourism Partnership

Intercontinental Hotel Group and Responsible Business

IHG’s three bespoke responsible business programmes are IHG Engage, IHG Academy and IHG Shelter in the Storm. IHG Engage was rolled out as the group’s environmental brand standard in 2014, proving the commitment and motivation of all properties to reach sustainability targets. In 2014 IHG also doubled the number of IHG Academy programmes to more than 600 in nearly 60 countries and responded to 18 disasters in 9 countries through their disaster relief programme IHG Shelter in a Storm.

IHG played an active role in developing the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative, which has now been embedded into IHG Engage to ensure carbon is measured consistently across their portfolio of properties. IHG also play an active role in ITP’s working groups on Human Trafficking, Supply Chains and Water. IHG properties in Jordan, Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, India and Vietnam host ITP’s Youth Career Initiative programme.
